Frequently Asked Questions:

What if I have arthritis, joint replacements, or chronic pain—can I still participate safely?

Absolutely! Every movement in the Strong for Life Club is designed with safety in mind. As a licensed Physical Therapist, I can modify exercises to suit your individual needs, whether you're dealing with arthritis, joint replacements, or chronic pain. You'll receive personalized guidance to ensure you're moving safely and comfortably.

I haven’t exercised in years—will I be able to keep up?

Yes! This class is beginner-friendly, and you’ll never be asked to do more than you’re comfortable with. We start with foundational movements and build from there at your pace. You’ll feel supported every step of the way, no matter where you’re starting from.

Are modifications available if I can’t get up and down from the floor easily?

Definitely. We’ll work on strategies to help you feel more confident with floor movements over time, but modifications are always available if you’re not there yet. You’ll never feel pressured to do something that feels uncomfortable.

What makes this class different from regular fitness classes for older adults?

Your local community center or library probably offers senior fitness. It's a class that's done in chairs, with resistance bands, and costs less than $5. Those are great. They have their time and place, but they're incomplete. To actually make the changes in mobility, independence, and strength to make a difference in how you feel, we need to push your body's limits, and do so safely.

That's where Made To Move Club comes in. This isn’t just another fitness class—it’s led by a licensed Physical Therapist with expertise in safe, functional movement. We focus on exercises that improve strength, mobility, and balance for everyday life and ask you to do the moves you'd need to in order to, say, get a grape that fell under the refrigerator.

It's the movements I teach people every day that keep them OFF of my treatment table!

Plus, you’ll get individualized attention to ensure you're moving correctly and safely, AND you can practice these moves at home.

As a Physical Therapist, will you be able to help if I have a previous injury or medical condition?

Yes! That’s one of the key benefits of joining this class. I have the training to safely guide people with a range of conditions, from past injuries to chronic health concerns. We’ll work together to find the right movements for your body.

Will this class really help with osteoporosis or menopause symptoms?

Yes! Strength training is one of the most effective ways to combat osteoporosis, and many of the exercises we do will help maintain bone density and support joint health. We also focus on managing menopause-related symptoms like decreased energy, muscle loss, and balance changes, helping you feel stronger and more energized.

Will my insurance pay for this?

No, this is considered a 'wellness' service by insurance companies that they do not (yet!) pay for.
